Use & Care

Each MAKO product is designed for long-lasting performance. Follow the recommended care instructions for each material to keep your cookware and knives in excellent condition.

5-Ply Stainless Steel: Dishwasher safe.

5-Ply Non-Stick Cookware: Dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended to extend the life of the coating. Use low to medium heat and silicone, wooden or other non-abrasive utensils. Avoid overheating.

Black Carbon Steel: Hand wash and dry thoroughly. Apply a thin layer of oil and heat gently after cleaning to maintain seasoning, prevent rust and build a natural patina over time.

Japanese Steel Knives: Hand wash and dry immediately. Do not place in the dishwasher.

What's the difference between MAKO Black Steel and Genius Copper 5-Ply cookware?
Our Black Steel cookware is designed for high-heat cooking, exceptional searing and developing a natural non-stick patina over time. Our Genius Copper 5-Ply cookware delivers fast, even heat distribution and precise temperature control, with Genius Plasma Non-Stick on selected pans for effortless food release.

Which pieces have a non-stick coating?
The 20cm and 30cm Frying Pans and 26cm Sauté Pan feature our Genius Plasma Non-Stick coating, engineered to last eight times longer than traditional non-stick coatings. The Black Steel Wok, Steak Pan and Mini Sear Pan develop a natural non-stick patina through seasoning and use.

Can I use the Mega Set on induction?
Yes. All cookware in the Mega Set is compatible with gas, electric and induction cooktops. For induction, check that each pan's flat base diameter meets your cooktop's minimum pan size requirements.

How do I care for the Black Steel cookware?
Black Steel requires a little extra care. Handwash, dry thoroughly and apply a light layer of oil after use to maintain the seasoning and protect against rust. Avoid the dishwasher and prolonged soaking. With regular use, the natural patina will continue to develop.

Does everything in the Mega Set have a lifetime warranty?
No. Our stainless steel cookware and Black Steel pans are covered by a lifetime warranty, subject to our warranty terms. Non-stick cookware and glass lids are covered by a 12-month warranty. Other accessories are covered by their applicable product warranties.

    Heats up like a charm

    I have an induction cooktop and was skeptical whether this wok would perform as advertised. I can confidently say that it heats up perfectly on the induction cooktop, no more sloppy stir fries! After following the recommendations on how to use the work, my stir fries are perfect!
